I am 49 and have also been dealing with mental-pause for years...and, because I am "young" have not found too many people to talk with. I have had children (two) but have older siblings (54/57) who are just now in it!
I don't know what to tell you other than I have been drinking a cup of decaffiented green tea every night for the past upteen months and it really has helped me to get REST!! Because, if I am honest, the thing I miss the most is my SLEEP!!! It seem to help me relax and get at least six hours of good sleep without the hot flashes...I have not had too msuch of a problem during the day but maybe drinking it cold would hepl those??
I drink it plain and it's not bad...I hope this help
Your sister in the mental-pause...
sweetie

I am 48 years old and have been going through menopause for years. For the past year my symptoms have been severe. I had a hysterectomy in 1998 and have never had children. I have read reports that women who have never bore children tend to experience more severe menopause. I am extremely tired because the night sweats are so bad that I can't get a continuous restful sleep. I sweat all day and all night. Each episode is followed by chills so it is impossible for me to get comfortable. Otherwise, I have short episodes of depression. I read an article about Borage oil for menopause. I have to do a little more research but I am willing to try anything at this point.

Try using natural progesterone cream. About age 35 our progesterone starts to decline big time. Once you balance your estrogen levels with natural bio-identical progesterone cream your symptoms will improve. Stop taking any estrogen in any form..until you get a saliva test done to find out your hormone levels. Balance is the key ..estrogen domiinance is probably the cause of your crying outbursts.

go to www.natural-progesterone-advisory-network.com for more help with this..

Stop all synthetic hormones..

Yes,this is the time to start taking care of ourselve first. I'm mid 50's and the only symptoms I have of menopause is more emotional and skatterbrained right before my period. Since kids are at home I'm reliving those yrs in a different way...trying new things, new languages/music, but am determined to accept each new change as it's supposed to be,go with the flow of life and keep an open mind.

Hi, I am now age 47 and would ask you to read the posts I have put here on this matter. I hope it will help. We are all different when it come to going through Menopause. I would talk to your Doctor and go with your feelings for treatment. Only you know you best! I take Calcium, Vitamins, and Estrogen OTC. This is what helps me. If a person smokes ( I do), then we need to quit, which I am trying to do. This is the time to start taking better care of our Bodies. I beleive life gives this to women to help them slow down & live longer, but we have to take it for what it's worth. Exersize is important also. Hope this helps.? GBU...

I was wondering if anyone has some great advice about my situation. I've been going thru peri-menopause for about 4 years---where I could tell(night sweats, sometimes day); etc. I am 45, almost 46 yrs. old. Anyway, the largest problem that I have had is the emotional down side. In the last two months alone, I've completely broken down and cried llike a baby in front of my male
boss and a couple of other people that he works with. I manage a large retail pharmacy and help alot of customers but am not sure how to stop my tears. Once they're on the way, it's like Niagara Falls. Thank God that I rarely see these people that I cried in front of--but I know that it's gotted around. I've always cried at Hallmark, sad movies, etc. but never considered myself a blithering idiot. The more I tried to control these crying jags--the far wosre they got.. Anyone out there got any suggestion???? I'm beyond humiliation.......

It can last many many years, everyone is different, and our bodies react different to things. I am still going through Menopause and I am 46, started mine when I was 38. Read my posts for updates, please. GBU.

Hi, sorry this does get some of us down, but only IF you let it. Remember we control our own bodies. I am no doctor but I can tell you why and what helped me not let it bother me when I started menopause. I am still going through it now and have been since I was age 38. I am now age 46. My Doctor tried to tell me I was not going through it til another 6 months from the time I went to see her at age 38. I laughed cause me & My Hubby knew I was going through it. The nite sweats started with me, I havn't been such a grouch through it so far though. Mood swings are there but NOT as noticeable as some may get for different people. I found and heard alot about an OTC Med that you may want to ask ur doctor about, I went ahead since my doctor didnt beleive I was going through it and took the OTC Med & It did me Real well. Of course read instructions and make sure the ingredience are something your not allergic too or whatever. : ) Ask your Drugist for the name of what it is I am talking about LOL cause right now I can't remember the name of it, I took it for less than 6 months, It's OTC, and they should know what it is. Sorry. This product even has a site you can go too once you start taking the Med. They helped me also by sending out coupons for the product. Also using a cold wash rag on your forhead helps, with any symptom. Eat lots of fruits and drink juices. Prayer is a good thing too. GBU..

I've been going through Menopause for awhile now, and it isn't stopping me from anything specific. It is all in what you see in yourself. Vitamins and other things help as you go along. basically, what you feel for yourself as a need to keep going and get rid of the changes in your body, then that is what I would do, & did. I am not through with the Menopause yet, but it isn't bad for me.

This is not life-opause!

I was reading a health magazine and they had an interesting article about menopause. They helped put this in perspective and said you should not treat this condition like it means "life-o-pause."

Rather, you need to get on with your life and not let this condition stop you!
