Re: Protection during pregnancy - update

On March 10, I had my twins - two beautiful daughters.

For the last weeks of my pregnancy, I ended up using the briefs. With the tapes, I was able to get a better fit. Although it was not great, it did help a lot.

Since giving birth, I have continued to have heavy incontinence, both of the stress and urge types. I am still using the briefs because of this. I did try going back to the pullups, but they frequently leaked.

At times it is hard changing my daughters diapers knowing that mine will be next, but just looking at the two bundles of joy makes me forget about my problem.

My Dr. keeps saying that things should improve over they next few months. I hope so.

I was just reading through some of these old posts and realized that you've had your babies! Just wanted to check in and see how things went. How is the problem post-partum? I've got anxieties about this myself. I'm in my first trimester and had pretty bad stress + urge incontinence before pregnancy. So far, I haven't noticed a huge difference in my symptoms, but I'm dreading the later stages of pregnancy and the postpartum period!

Congratulations. I don't know why they don't make this stuff in maternity sizes or plus sizes. I use the poise panty it it can leak in a flood. If I were you I would try something more absorbent with tapes that is easier to change.

Hi Catherine!

First congratulations!! I can only imagine how two tiny babies are just pounding on your bladder. Poise panties are really fantastic but I think they are only designed for up to moderate incontinence and obviously are not designed to accommodate a pregnant woman. Have you considered a Poise Maximum Protection pad inside a pair of maternity underwear? I don't know if that will give enough protection, though if you are having major accidents. Another option would be a very absorbent disposable brief (diaper). Those are really fantastic as far as absorbency is concerned. I wore a disposable brief under my wedding dress for the ceremony and reception and it worked out perfectly. I am not sure about sizing one for pregnancy though!

Protection during pregnancy

Jan 27, 2008 5:27 PM
I am currently 7 months pregnant with twins. This alone is driving my incontinence problem nuts, yet alone when the babies kick or move. This last few weeks have been like the floodgates are constantly open.

With my large tummy, I am having trouble keeping the Poise underwear in place. It seems like they just want to slide down my ever growing mountain.

Any suggestions?
